With genuine compassion for patients of all ages, along with a strong knowledge of specialized orthopedic care, Michele brings a unique combination of patient care and education to Indiana University Health Goshen Physicians Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. From teaching children about the importance of bone health and encouraging adults to exercise, to educating the elderly about osteoporosis, Michele has a special talent for providing sensitive information in a comprehensible manner. Her exceptional communication skills enable her to relate well to her patients and their families. In addition to being a certified nurse practitioner, Michele spent 20 years as a registered nurse and has vast experience in family practice, oncology and emergency care.
Michele received her Bachelor of Science in Bible and nursing from Johnson Bible College and East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. She then served her patients for many years as a RN at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital, Methodist Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Hendricks Community Hospital in Danville, Ind. During that time, Michele cared for many patients with both acute and chronic conditions in nearly every unit of the hospital, building rapport and respect by focusing not only on excellent care, but also on the importance of patient education.
Continuing her education, Michele later attended Indiana University in Indianapolis, where she received her Master of Science in nursing. While there, she taught courses and oversaw senior nursing students in the emergency room at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Most recently, Michele served as a certified family nurse practitioner with Atlas Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Indianapolis, and Goshen Bone and Joint Center in Goshen and Nappanee, Ind.
